TOP MOMENT OF THE NIGHT
Happy Belated Mother's Day, Norma
A&E
BECAUSE: It would appear, that the moment Bates Motel has been barreling toward for four seasons has arrived: Norman Bates just killed his mother Norma. Or he at least attempted to kill her -- and himself. In the final moments of the episode, Norman turned the gas on in their creepy, creepy house, closed all the vents but Norma's, crawled into bed with her, and let thePsycho times roll. Romero arrived and was able to drag them both outside; Norman woke up... mom didn't. But don't worry: it doesn't take a pulse for Norma Bates to be a part of this story.

Blindspot
NBC
WHAT HAPPENED: Jane has made a bit of an oopsie-daisy... she knew she'd been planted -- or rather, planted herself -- in the FBI to do something, so she's been playing; she did not realize that something she's been working toward was framing her boss for murder. Monday's episode opens on Attorney General Matthew Weitz strolling into Mayfair's office and mysteriously seizing all of her stuff. In between that and the end, there's some couples counseling, some elevator drama, and the whole FBI gets hacked, but it's really all about this Mayfair thing. Because once the office is back up and running, Weitz arrests Mayfair and has her team listen in on the interrogation where Jane soon realizes that Mayfair is being accused of murdering Guerrero, Carter, and Alexandra -- and every part of "Mayfair's plan" that Weitz lays out... is actually something Jane executed at Oscar's direction.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: So, Mayfair's been set up. Jane knows that (y'know, because she basically did it), but nobody else does. That might be tough on team morale, thinking your boss is a mega murderer. Sullivan Stapleton, who plays Weller told EW, "Mayfair is Kurt's mentor, and to have someone accused of such crimes and then shut down, it's a huge point in his life and in his career." It's not going to be easy on Patterson, either; Ashley Johnson shared with EW that, "Patterson just falls apart a little bit because Patterson likes order, and when that starts to crumble, she doesn't know what to do or how to navigate through that." Alright Jane, it might be time to start following your own orders.

Dancing With the Stars
ABC
WHAT HAPPENED: Monday night's Dancing With the Stars had twists galore, and we're not just referring to the coils of Val and Ginger Zee's bodies in their intense-and-sexy-had-a-baby-and-that-baby-was-this-dance Argentine Tango. No, we're talking about how frontrunner and all-around good time Wanyá has a major mess-up this week, stumbling on a prop and falling out of step for several beats. We're talking about the intensely sincere and moving decision from Peta and Nyle to dance part of their Paso Doble in total silence to give the audience a small glimpse of what it's like for Nyle to perform as a deaf contestant. And most twist-y and crushing of all: After finally nabbing a perfect score for her fast, high-energy gospel-infused jive, Jodie Sweetin was eliminated on Monday night's DWTS.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: And for the stars and their pros, DWTS had a twist of its own: a weirdly sexual segment called "The Judges' Team-Up Challenge" where the judges arranged their ideal dancing quartets, and the live audience at home got to weigh into the judges' table with their own scores. Here's the thing: America wasn't that impressed. As Yahoo TV put it, "Unlike the old-timers, who were content to shower themselves in perfect scores along with the sweat/lifeblood of Our Pros, guest judge America wasn't willing to rest on the tendrils of its barely-there grass skirt. Viewers ended up scoring a measly 9 to all three Round 2 dances, even Carrie Ann's exploration of fabricated nudity disguised as a paso doble."

Person of Interest
CBS
WHAT HAPPENED: In its last season, Person of Interest is going back to where it all started: Finch's Machine. As EW recapper Chancellor Agard assesses, "It turns out that the same Machine that was hyper-condensed into that briefcase at the end of last season isn't the same one that comes outwhen Finch and Root decompress her and turn her on." That provides some fun when the Machine's wonky facial recognition technology offers everyone in the cast an opportunity to impersonate each other; it's less fun when a simple diagnostic test turns into the Machine determining that Team Machine are threats. Root and Finch get locked inside a train car; Reese has an assassin sent after him; and Finch is forced to have one serious heart-to-heart with his own creation about how he has also changed a great deal since this war began. But he tells her, "There are no heroes, no villains -- just people doing the best they can... My only justification is that I did the best I could." Finch reconfigures the Machine to focus on all the good they've done -- all the lives they have saved -- and they move forward the only way they know how... with the numbers.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: Person of Interest's ability to infuse so much heart in a show about a Machine (and a Machine-maker) is continually impressive, but it's always even better when they add a little humor to the mix. The show's actors answered fan questions for TVLine at Person of Interest's 100th episode party, including whom they had the best time impersonating in Monday's facial recognition snafu (a scene that was previewed at New York Comic-Con last year). Michael Emerson told TVLine he most enjoyed taking on Amy Acker's persona, but found Jim Caviezel a tricky one, "because his work is very contained." But Emerson is no easy-A himself -- Acker confessed, "I was afraid no one was going to be my friend anymore . I thought Michael was pretty hard. I went with [his distinct vocal intonations], but you feel so pressured to be good."

One More Thing...
Jane the Virgin Has Too Much Love
The CW
TRICKY TRIANGLE: How is it possible that with just one look, Rafael has put himself back onto the playing field for Jane's heart in Monday's episode of Jane the Virgin? Jane may not think so, but fans are suddenly all atwitter to declare themselves Team Michael or Team Rafael.
