Seafood fraud investigation finds 1 in 3 businesses sold mislabeled fish


The seafood you buy at the supermarket may not always be what it claims to be on the label. One in five samples of fish tested from markets and restaurants were mislabeled, according to a new report out Thursday morning. The U.S. imports about 90 percent of its seafood and once those shipments cross the border, the report says they are rarely tracked all the way to your table.

  • McDonald’s says it’s giving away free bacon on January 29 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • During that window, the company says, customers can get two pieces of bacon on the side of any order, whether a burger, a Filet-O-Fish, or a hot-fudge sundae.
  • The deal is meant to highlight three new bacon-centric menu items: the Big Mac with bacon, the Quarter Pounder Bacon burger, and cheesy bacon fries.

Reese's Puffs were seriously ahead of their time. In the past few years, there's been a major uptick in cereal versions of snack aisle staples, from Nutter Butter and Chips Ahoy! (tiny breakfast cookies!), to Hostess Honey Buns and Donettes (itty bitty pastries you eat with a spoon!), to Oreo O's (a '90s-kid favorite that made a comeback in 2017).
