10 Secret Smartphone Features You’ll Start Using Right Away

We are all experienced smartphone users, but it’s impossible to know all the tips and hacks because smartphones are getting more and more advanced.

Bright Side collected some handy tips for iOS and Android users that will help you get more out of your cell phone.

10. Block ads

The quickest and easiest way to block ads on your phone is to turn on Airplane Mode. It works great on both iOS and Android. Though while this mode is on, you won’t be able to make or receive calls.

9. Wi-Fi passwords

Every time you connect to a new Wi-Fi, your phone memorizes the password and you see dots instead of the password on your screen. There is an Android app that can help you see all the Wi-Fi passwords that have ever been entered into your phone. It’s very helpful when you want to recall the password to use it on another device or share it with friends.

8. Create your own reply for missed calls

If you miss a call on your iPhone, there are text responses that can be sent with a single tap. But it’s also possible to create your own. Go to Settings, choose Phone, then Respond with Text, and create your own message.

7. Android guest mode

If you don’t want another person to have access to your personal data while they are using your phone, you can use Guest Mode on your Android phone. To switch it on, you need to tap the User icon in the top right corner of the quick Settings panel. Then tap Guest.

6. Secret iPhone codes

You can hide your number for an outgoing call with a simple code. If you enter *#31# you will hide the number for all calls. If you need it just for one certain call, you can type #31# right before the number you’re calling.

5. Audio timer

This iOS feature is great for those who like audiobooks and listening to music before falling asleep. You can set the timer to turn off the audio. Go to Timer, and choose its length. Tap When Timer Ends, and select Stop Playing at the bottom. Select Set, and start your timer. When your timer goes off, any audio currently playing will stop.

4. Take photos while shooting video

You don’t have to stop recording video on your iPhone if you want to take a photo at the same time. You just need to tap the camera button, which appears on the screen with the shutter button.

3. Share content immediately

You can easily share content directly from your Android device’s screen to another by bringing the devices together. To do this, just tap the Share icon in any app. Choose Android beam from the list of options, and then just put the devices together back-to-back.

2. Keyboard and mouse

Android supports mice and keyboards. This can be very useful if your display is damaged or if you just need to type a lot of text. All you need to attach a keyboard or mouse to your Android phone is a USB on-the-go cable.

1. Screen Lock — Time Password

Screen Lock — Time Password is an app for Android that makes your phone’s current time (or other options related to time) its lock screen password. So it changes all the time, and you don’t have to worry if someone might have seen your password as you unlocked your phone.
