Target's Best and Worst Black Friday TV Deals
This year the bargains are a mix of major and secondary brands
By James K. WillcoxLast updated: November 06, 2017
This year's Target Black Friday TV deals are similar to the retailer's offerings in years past. They include TVs with prices that range from $90 for a 32-inch second-tier brand HD set to almost $850 for a 65-inch Samsung 4K smart TV.
The Target Black Friday doorbuster in-store deals kick off at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving (Nov. 23) and run until midnight, when stores close. Doors reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday (Nov. 24). You can shop the deals all weekend at target.com, and there's free shipping on everything.
On Black Friday only, if you spend more than $50 in a single transaction, you can get 20 percent off one shopping trip between Nov. 28 and Dec. 10.

Lesser-Known TV Brands
Target doesn't always provide model numbers, so where necessary we've provided our best guesses:
32-inch Polaroid HDTV, $85
The ad doesn't reference the model number, but we think it might be the Polaroid 32GSR3000FC, a basic 60Hz 720p model. If so, it usually sells for $130. We currently don't have any Polaroid TVs in our TV ratings, but they haven't been a top brand in the past.
40-inch Element smart TV, $200
We think it could be the Element ELST4017, which usually sells for about $250. It's a basic 60Hz 1080 smart TV.
43-inch Polaroid 4K UHD smart TV, $230
We're not sure about this model. Target sells the Polaroid 43GSR4100KL with the same specs for the same price right now. But the stand looks a bit different to us, so it's difficult to say how good a deal this is. The similar Polaroid 43GSR4100KN has sold for about $350.
49-inch TCL 4K UHD Roku TV, $350
We think this is the TCL 49S405, which usually sells for about $360 at Best Buy and other retailers and $380 at Target. CR has tested this 4K Roku TV. It's a decent if not standout set with very good UHD performance but below-average HD picture quality.
55-inch Westinghouse 4K UHD TV, $250
Best Buy is selling the Westinghouse WE55UC420 for $380 right now, but that set doesn't match the size and weight of the Target set. This appears to be one of Target's flagship TV deals; it has a low price for a 55-inch 4K TV. Note that Westinghouse sets haven't typically performed very well in our tests.
Other TV Deals
Target also has a few noteworthy deals on sets from major TV brands, mainly LG and Samsung. They include:
49-inch Samsung 4K 120Hz smart TV, $430
This is the Samsung UN49MU6290. So far we've seen this set for the same price in the BJ's Black Friday ad and for $400 in the Costco Black Friday TV ad. The TV had been selling for about $600.
55-inch LG 4K 120Hz UHD smart TV, $500
We don't know the model number, but our guess would be the 55-inch LG 55UJ6300, an entry-level 4K set that's selling for $500 to $550 elsewhere. In our tests, its UHD performance was very good but its HD picture quality was below average, unusual for an LG model.
58-inch Samsung 4K UHD smart TV, $650
This is the Samsung UN58MU6100, which BJ's will have for the same price, but you also get a $20 BJ’s gift card if you buy it there. It’s an entry-level 4K model that costs $700 at Best Buy and $900 at other retailers right now. In our tests, its HD picture quality was excellent, UHD performance was very good, and sound was very good.
65-inch Samsung 4K 120Hz smart UHD TV, $850
This is another model—the Samsung UN65MU6290—we're seeing from a few retailers for Black Friday this year. BJ's also has this entry-level 4K model for $850, and you get a $20 BJ’s gift card. Costco has the lowest Black Friday price we've seen on this set so far, $800.
