I've been told that I need to have more personnel stuff in my blogs. So I'm going to start with my trip and try to do a little more each day. If you all would like for me to write about different things, let me know, leave a comment. I have a lot of opinions as I'm sure everyone else does.
Day 1
I bought the tickets for this trip awhile back, of course, to get the best price. The tickets were going fast, although I don't know why. So I booked the red-eye out of Los Angeles to Norfolk. The flight was scheduled to leave at midnight 10. I got dropped off at the airport around 9:00pm. Since I was early I decided to go over to the United Services Organization (USO) and hang out for a bit. They have all kinds of stuff there for military, dependents, retirees and vets. It is a pretty good deal and its funded through donations. Anyway it came time to board the plane. Went through security, which flowed pretty good I must say. I did not sleep much on the plane like I thought I would. I believe I caught maybe an hour, two at the most.
The first stop was in Philadelphia. I had a 2 hour layover there. So I just wondered around the airport checking things out. Lots of construction and upgrading going on so there was not many places I could go. I finally boarded the plane and headed to Norfolk.
Once I arrived I went to the rental car place. I went with Thrifty this time instead of my normal Hertz. Not sure if it was a mistake or not yet. First they told me the car class that I had got only had Kia Souls, which I was not going to get again after my last time out here, then they tried to get me to buy the extra insurance crap by scaring me with Virginia being a "no fault" state. Oh well, I did not go for it. But I did have to get the upgrade for the car, which got me into a Nissan Altima, not bad but not great. Jury is still out on that one as well. My cell phone is actually working this time around as well. If you remember last time it did not work and I had to buy a burner phone. So far so good with my normal one. So I drove to the base using the Waze app (I love it!) and checked into the base lodging. They were so cool. They gave me the building I asked for and even moved my room to the bottom floor like I requested. They just moved some people around. Very nice of them. So checked into the room, unpacked, and set up the laptop, recharged my cell phone and sat around waiting.
I was waiting for a call from my attorney on the times I had requested to spend with my son. The call came at 4:55pm. Right before they close. So I was told that instead of the 4 days that I requested to see him (I am only here for 4 days) that I could only see him for 2 of those days. Well, I said no way to that of course and she changed it to 3 days finally but the times are still up in the air. I was told for no more than 3 hours at a time. Now please tell me. How is a baby supposed to get to know his dad and bond with him if he only gets to see him for 3 days for 3 hours each? How does that make any kind of sense at all? Needless to say there will be more negotiating tomorrow.
After that I went out and got some America's Roast Beef, Yes Sir or as well all know it, ARBY'S for dinner and came back to the room. Played some 80's TV Trivia online with some friends and then just relaxed. Tomorrow is a new day if the Lord wakes me up. No one knows when he/she will be called. That is all for the first day. Sorry its nothing exciting. Hopefully tomorrow will be much better. Take care and have a great day/good evening. Talk to you tomorrow.
