Goodbye, Derek Morgan |
|
CBS |
|
BECAUSE: We can't be mad at Shemar Moore for being ready to say "see you later" to Criminal Minds after 11 seasons -- but we can be sad! On the record, Wednesday's episode marked Agent Derek Morgan's final day at the BAU by having him leave the bureau to focus on his family. Our hearts go out to Penelope "Baby Girl" Garcia (and fans) in this difficult time. |

WHAT HAPPENED: Well, these season 32 Tribal Councils are just turning into regular peanut galleries, aren't they? After the Gondol tribe welcomed Julia back from isolation, but then sent themselves back to another Tribal, they went through upwards of one hundred last minute switcheroos. See, back at camp, Peter had been bringing Joe and Aubry's names to the non-Brains. Then he decided it wiser to stick with the Brain numbers for now to vote Julia out, and Joe decided to believe him after a brief FBI interrogation against a coconut tree. But then the non-Brains ratted Peter's scheming out to Aubry in an effort to get Peter out; Aubry seemed convinced, but Joe was unwilling to change paths heading into Tribal. But, as we all know, the decisions don't stop at the march to Tribal -- for proof look no further than Scot hissing to Julia, "Original plan!" right before the vote, and Aubry's vote card which is actually has Julia's name written down and then crossed out and replaced with Peter's. To quote Jeff Probst: "The game is live!" |
|
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: And to quote Jeff Probst some more... the host extraordinaire told EW not to forget: "Tribal continues to evolve." Whether it's a breakout of hushed conversations or last minute vote switches, you really can't know what to expect from the game that keeps on giving 32 seasons later. Probst elaborated, "This Tribal was yet another turning point in the game, and it was electric to witness it in person... I also think this marked a turning point for Aubry. She started out on day one in tears, overwhelmed by the elements. She survived and is starting to really blossom as a player. Changing your vote at Tribal is a giant move. You can't be any more active and alive than that -- and I loved it." Next week: MEEEEEERGE!!! |

WHAT HAPPENED: Oh, the things they do for love... and crime-fighting. Cupid is back, and she's murdering Star City's most famous couples in the name of one very clear message: "Love is dead." And that's hitting a little too close to home right now for Oliver, who's still reeling from his split with Felicity -- a split she is insisting is the real deal. But that girl, she can never turn down to a good city-save, so she agrees to suit up in her bridal gear and fake-marry Oliver in order to lure Cupid to her capture. Naturally, the couple has to deliver fake vows, which Oliver makes very real... but it's not enough. While the team takes down Cupid and her surplus of C-4, Felicity tells Oliver one last time that as much as they may love each other, they are over and there is no way to fix that. |

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: Hey, the A.V. Club has a quick question: "What the hell happened to Felicity Smoak?" Following Wednesday night's love-is-dead episode, they point out that, "There was a time not so long ago that pretty much everyone ... considered Felicity the show's breakout character,"for her zany personality amidst all the darkness. And now who is she? The person who's supposed to make us decide whether our hero was right or wrong? When we all know good and well that the man can climb a salmon ladder? That's just asking the poor woman to fail! The A.V. Club sums up their full exploration of how Arrow has been "shortchanging" the once fun relationship with this: "I hope Arrow knows why it broke up Oliver and Felicity, and it knows where this is going next. Because about the only way to justify all this silliness is to make the destination so compelling that even this weird, wonky journey feels worthwhile." Now, that actually sounds pretty fun. |

WHAT HAPPENED: Hiding from your ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend on a fire escape? Kissing your employer?? TWINS?! Oh Younger, you devious little minx. Wednesday's season 2 finale revealed that, yes, Thad indeed died under the weight of New York City construction -- but! -- he's survived by his twin, Chad, the sweeter Webervi who's looking for answers on his brother's death. He shows Kelsey some video footage that finally forces Liza to spill all the dirt: She found out Chad was cheating and was trying to get him to admit it when the accident happened. Kelsey is not thrilled -- so not thrilled that Liza quits Empirical and takes up occupational residency at the Paramus Mall. But everyone missed their favorite middle-aged-millennial too much, so Charles heads to the mall to get her back and winds up KISSING HER. We'll leave that little development to H.R. as Liza does return to Empirical, much to Kelsey's come-around delight. New love interests, restored friendships... all is well. Oh, except when Liza gets home from her big day, Josh is there, waiting on her stoop, telling her he's all in. |

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: Looks like we've got ourselves a love triangle for season 3, folks. When asked by EW to determine who the best catch is for Liza, Josh or Charles, Sutton Foster insisted, "You can't make me pick!" But pal Hilary Duff has the goods: "I think the choice that makes the most sense is Charles... You'll eventually see, especially in the third season, Charles and Liza are definitely going to have to take their relationship to the next level." Oh, season 3, you say? Though Foster told EW she really hopes "there is a world where the show has sort of grown beyond [Liza's] secret," the main thing she wants from season 3 is for Liza to finally tell Kelsey. As for how the, uh, "unpredictable" Kelsey will handle the news, Duff could see it going two different directions: "I think she'll be totally crushed and angry. Because she's a very loyal person. ... The easy breezy side of me playing Kelsey just wants to be like, 'Girl, I know and I have known.'" Girl... can't wait for season 3. |

How Do You Solve a Problem Like Pastor Tim? |
|
FX |
|
THESE ARE THEIR CONFESSIONS: Get ahold of this line from Anthony Breznican's EW recap of The Americans: "Mom's first reaction: kill the pastor." Indeed, Paige confessed to her mother in Wednesday's episode that she told their family's little secret to Pastor Tim, but the man of faith's fate remains TBD. |
