To say that Batman: The Animated Series, a cartoon adaptation of the Batman franchise that aired in the United States between 1992 and 1995, was a success would be an understatement. The show was critically received at the time it aired and has stood up to the test of time, being widely regarded as one of the best animated television series ever created. The animation, story lines, voice acting, and musical scores have all been praised and honored with award nominations and awards at some point.
In fact, Batman: The Animated Series was the first animated comic book adaptation to win an Emmy award, and in 1993 it was nominated for 6 Emmy awards, taking home the Outstanding Animated Program award for the episode “Robin’s Reckoning: Part 1” and Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program for the episode “Heart of Ice”.
