The reason why the kingdom of God is the first thing Jesus taught is because it is the main thing that Jesus taught. The heart of everything that Jesus taught and preached is centered around the kingdom of God. In Matthew, Mark and Luke that phrase is found 61 times. Jesus even said the reason He came to planet earth was to introduce the kingdom of God.
“But he said to them, ‘I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.’” (Luke 4:43)
Acts chapter 1 tells us that the last thing He talked to the disciples about just before he ascended into heaven was the kingdom of God. Jesus, not only lived His entire life and did everything He did for the kingdom, but He wants us to do the same thing.
Nobody ever made the most out of the life that they lived than Jesus Christ. He wants us to make the most out of the life that we live. Someone put it well when they said, “It is not the duration of your life that counts; it is the donation of your life that matters.” If you want to live a worthy life, not a wasted life, it all comes down to how you relate to the King and His kingdom. If you put the King where He wants to be the King will give you what you need to have. Life is all about putting first things first and Jesus says this one thing should always be first,
