3 dead, 1 injured in Mukilteo shooting
By Seattle Times staffThree people were killed and one injured in a shooting at a Mukilteo home early Saturday. A suspect has been arrested in Lewis County.
Police were called to the house in the 10000 block of Chenault Beach Road just after midnight. They found the three people dead, said Mukilteo Police Officer Myron Travis. The injured person was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Travis said.
At a 4:30 a.m. media briefing at City Hall, Mayor Jennifer Gregerson said the early reports about the injured person’s condition were “hopeful.”
“Our community has suffered a great loss tonight,” she said.
Travis, who also attended the briefing, declined to confirm reports that the people in the home might have been high school or college age. He would not give information on the victims’ identities or the person he said had been arrested overnight in Lewis County, based on a description gained from interviews.
Travis said 15 to 20 people were gathered at the home when the shooting began. He said law-enforcement officials interviewed those who had been at the house and they were reunited with their families afterward at a church.
Travis said, an arrest was made during a traffic stop at milepost 75 on southbound Interstate 5 in Lewis County. Travis did not provide information on whether a weapon had been recovered.
For those affected by the violence, Gregerson said, “We will stand for them and be there for them.”
