Arian Foster signing with Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins weren't kidding about their interest in Arian Foster.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the club on Monday will sign the former Texans star running back to a one-year deal, per a source.
Foster worked out for the 'Fins on Monday. The 29-year-old runner had a second visit planned later in the week with the Lions, but Detroit won't have a chance to lure him away.
Cut by the Texans in March, Foster is rebounding from the ruptured Achilles he suffered last October. Expected to be ready for camp, the undrafted workhorse has been running for months and spent much of his offseason working out at IX Innovations, the Houston-based training facility owned by his brother, Abdul Foster, who said in March: "Arian's doing great."
Miami always made sense as a landing spot for Foster, who has a chance at major snaps alongside second-year back Jay Ajayi. Playing under creative coach Adam Gase is a plus, while Foster -- assuming he regains his old form -- bolsters a position that desperately needed help.
Despite their optimism around Ajayi, the 'Fins -- who lost Lamar Miller to the Texans in free agency -- made it clear they wanted backfield help when they swung and missed on landing restricted free agent C.J. Anderson, who wound up re-signing with Denver.
Foster's 2015 season was a total wash, but he was outstanding for sections of the previous campaign, running for 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns. There were moments in 2014 where Foster looked as good as ever.
The pressing question is whether Foster -- in his eighth season -- can duplicate that kind of production for the Dolphins. They thought enough of his workout, though, to snatch him up before the Lions had a chance.
