Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt
Think about how bread is made. It begins with grain. That grain must be planted in a field. When that grain is ripe it has to be cut down and ground into flour. Then, before it can become bread, it has to pass through the fire of the oven.
Jesus was born into this world planted as a seed in the womb of a virgin. He grew up completely sinless and when He was ripe at the height of His ministry, He was cut down, put through the fire of the oven of God’s wrath in the shape of a cross, but He came out of an empty tomb as the finished Bread of Life. Isn’t that just awesome?
An unopened loaf of bread does a person no good. Bread that sits on the shelf will mold. Once again, I speak to two groups of people today.
You are in the crowd. You think all life is is just trying to find the meal ticket, trying to find the sugar daddy, climb that ladder, get that paycheck, buy this or that, and that is all you need. You are in a cycle and a circle that never ends, because none of that ever satisfies. I am going to ask you today to receive the Bread of Life.
How about those of you who are disciples? You are on the other side. Your job is to make sure that the crowd, at least, is offered that bread. No, we can’t force people to eat it, but we ought to make sure they have it. Unfortunately, too many of us have discovered it is a lot easier to stay in the bakery than it is to get into the delivery truck. I am asking some of you today to take this bread. I am asking a lot of you today to start sharing this bread.
