Answer: Christian Bale
Over the decades, there have been numerous silver screen adaptations of the Batman comic book, dating all the way back to 1943’s Batman (featuring the then 23-year-old Lewis G. Wilson as a very boy-faced Bruce Wayne). Since then, Batman has been portrayed by a varying cast with everything from a comedic touch to a dark and brooding tone.
Other actors that have donned the spiked cowl on-screen include Robert Lowery (1949), Adam West (1966), Michael Keaton (1989 and 1992), Val Kilmer (1995), George Clooney (1997), and Ben Affleck (2016). Among all the actors that have portrayed Batman, however, none have done it as many times as Christian Bale.
Thanks to his role in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, spanning Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Bale is the only actor to portray Batman in more than two films.
