After a year of development and a years-long crash landing for its Wii U console, Nintendo has pulled the curtain off of its newest console, called Switch.
A (not compelling, not particularly well-produced) commercial show that the Switch can be taken from the living room to the taxi to a rooftop party (social repercussions be damned), with multiple ways of interacting with games (wireless motion controllers, directly with the device's mobile configuration, a single classic-style controller) that appear to have gotten a much-needed upgrade. In adition to Switch, Nintendo has also begun to license its properties for games on smartphones, like the massively popular Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run for iOS.
