Did You Know/Todays Term

Did You Know?

New Zealand is widely regarded to be the first country (then British colony) to adopt the use of standardized time zones when it did so on November 2, 1868.

Today's Tech Term

PUIS

PUIS (short for Power-Up In Standby, a.k.a. [PM2] Power Management 2 Mode) refers to a hard drive power management feature/configuration which prevents the hard drive from automatically spinning up when a computer is turned on, thus helping to conserve on energy usage.
The hard drive spins up later only when it is needed and receives the appropriate command.
