Real life begins with a second birthday. If you really want to know whether or not you are really destined to spend eternity with God, answer this question: how many times have you been born? If you've only been born once you're going to die twice. You're going to die physically and you're going to die spiritually. But if you've been born twice, at most, you're only going to die once.
You were born because God chose to give you physical life. You were born again because God chose to give you spiritual life. Being born again is not making a new start in life, it is receiving a new life to start with. It is the one essential thing you must have if you're going to spend eternity with God.
