Wed Inspiration

Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt

I don’t mind telling you that one of the hardest parts of the Bible for me to want to obey is the part that tells me to “love my enemies”, but Jesus said something in Luke 6:35 that tells us why we are to love our enemies.

“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.” (Luke 6:35)

Now think about that. God is kind to people who don’t even think about His kindness. God is kind to people who aren’t even thankful for His kindness. God is kind even to those who are evil, to those who hate the very idea of God, to those who don’t want to have anything to do with God, to those who don’t even believe in God. That tells us something important about kindness. Kindness is what we give, even to people who don’t deserve it.
