We're often faced with questions in life that leave us stranded and straining, and yet God has already given a clear answer: no. Not "no" like an authoritarian parent who smothers his children, but rather like a loving father who sees the danger that will be averted by avoiding the trap altogether. If you have children, you know exactly the kind of "no" I'm speaking about. When you tell your children to stay away from the stove, you aren't trying to control them or keep them from having fun. You're protecting them from a nasty burn that is sure to follow contact with a hot surface. This the way God watches over us.
