Maisie Williams casts doubt on Game of Thrones multiple endings rumor
JAMES HIBBERDGame of Thrones may not be shooting multiple endings for its finale after all.
Star Maisie Williams appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday and cast doubt on the rumor that the production would film more than one ending so that even the cast and crew wouldn’t know the how the top-secret HBO hit concluded.
“I heard this and I thought, ‘I don’t think we got the budget to shoot multiple endings,'” said the actress who’s currently filming the final season.
Kimmel pointed out that the rumor was started by an interview with HBO’s programming president and that he would know if the show was shooting more than one ending. Williams shot back, “but as we know, sometimes presidents don’t always tell the truth.”
Given the enormity and cost of the GoT production and the complexity of the storyline, it would indeed make more sense if the team just committed to a single ending (and then held their breath hoping details did not leak).
Williams was super cautious discussing the final season, refusing to even say how many episodes there were (there are six), but did say she actually gave the scripts to one person she wasn’t supposed to: “I sent my mom the scripts [even though] they said don’t give them to anyone.” The actress was on Kimmel to promote her current film, Early Man, a stop-motion animated movie from director Nick Park.
Game of Thrones returns in 2019.
