Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time has cast Faran Tahir as the famed Captain Nemo from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, EW has learned exclusively.
The Dallas and Warehouse 13 alum will play the hardened leader of the Nautilus submarine, who’s a zealous believer in a cause that takes him from 20,000 leagues under the sea to the destiny that he won’t let anyone prevent him from achieving.
“We’re thrilled to give a Once Upon a Time spin to the classic character of Captain Nemo from one of our favorite Disney films, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis say. “We’re excited to see his mythology merge with Storybrooke’s own captain — Hook [Colin O’Donohue]. If for no other reason than to see the Jolly Roger go up against a submarine.”
The news comes in the wake of the EPs teasing at Comic-Con that season 6 would uncover some surprising secrets from Hook’s past. Captain Nemo also enters the scene just as OUAT is introducing the Land of Untold Stories, opening up the world of the show beyond the fairy tale characters we’ve come to know and love.
Tahir joins the growing list of newbies in season 6, including Oded Fehr as Jafar, Deniz Akdeniz as Aladdin, Karen David as Princess Jasmine, Giles Matthey as Morpheus, and Craig Horner as the Count of Monte Cristo.
