Though the President of the United States will have been elected in real life by the time Scandal returns, Gladiators won’t have to wait long to find out who will be calling the White House home on the ABC drama. EW has learned exclusively that the sixth season premiere of Scandal will pick up on election night.

It its fifth season, Scandal’s primary election mirrored that of the one happening in the real world — even down to the Donald Trump-like candidate Hollis Doyle (Gregg Henry). But with Scandal returning midseason, after the 2016 election, we asked executive producer Shonda Rhimes whether the election will still factor into the new season.

“Yes and no,” Rhimes tells EW. “We are basically going to start our season on election night. Yes, it is going to play into our season, but we’re not going to spend our time playing an election.”

Now the question remains who will win: Republican nominee Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) and vice presidential choice Jake Ballard (Scott Foley), or Democratic hopeful Francisco Vargas (Ricardo Chavira) and his VP Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry). Cast your vote in the comments below!

Scandal will return midseason on ABC.
