A Resident Evil TV series is in the works.

Netflix is developing a show based on the popular horror film and video game franchise.

As first reported by Deadline, the streaming service is searching for a showrunner to script a new version of the story that will “explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.” Netflix had no comment and the project is in its early stages, so there’s no cast yet or premiere date.

The Resident Evil movie franchise debuted in 2002 starring Milla Jovovich and has generated five sequels, cumulatively ranking as the top-grossing film series based on a video game (take that, Tomb Raider). A film reboot with a new cast is also in the works with 47 Meters Down director Johannes Roberts.
