A long-awaited Disneyland opening is finally here — and no, we’re not talking about Star Wars Land. Craft beer obsessives can finally rejoice, because the California theme park resort just welcomed its very first on-site brewery.
San Diego-based Ballast Point Brewing Company opened at Downtown Disney this week, making park-bound guests as conveniently close to meeting Mickey Mouse as they are to a cornucopia of beer. The brewery and restaurant offers over 50 beers, including famed Ballast Point pours, like Grapefruit Sculpin and Sculpin IPA, and a three-barrel brewing system will offer unique beers exclusive to the Disneyland Resort location.
Located in Disneyland’s dining and entertainment district, the new restaurant boasts a large-scale outdoor beer garden with beer-inspired menu items including pretzel bites with Sculpin beer cheese, beer-battered fish and chips and Victory at Sea S’mores, playing off the brand’s vanilla and local coffee-infused porter. Expect comfort food and Californian fare (Baja fish tacos, avocado-topped kale salad), inventive vegan options and even a thoughtful kids menu. Ballast Point Brewing Company may be a beer-lover’s ideal Disney getaway, but it’s also family-friendly, making it a worthy pit-stop for drinks or post-fireworks bites, as the location is open until midnight seven days a week.
With plenty on the way later this year, Ballast Point’s Anaheim location is just one of a handful of new experiences arriving at Disneyland Resort. In addition to Portland-based ice creamery Salt & Straw’s opening last fall and Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer also on the way this year, Disneyland Park will welcome Mickey’s Mix Magic nighttime show and a new Mickey Mouse-themed float with the return of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade later this month. And, nearly four years after it was first announced, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will bring intergalactic thrills, high-stakes rides and unparalleled shopping when it debuts this summer.
