Wed Inspiration

Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt

Remember that I told you when you walk through a door two things always happen: you exit one room and you enter another one. Jesus is telling us when you come to Him, whether you come as a first time believer or you come as a long-time follower you exit a life of frustration and you enter a life of fulfillment. You exit a life of meaningless and you enter a life of meaningfulness.
That is what Jesus meant when He said,

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10)

The thief is all those wrong doors you could walk through. If you walk through the wrong door of greed, lust, jealously or selfishness it will suck the joy out of your life. It will rob you of significance and will lead you totally unsatisfied. When you walk through the door named, Jesus, everything changes. He goes on to say this,

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John10:10b)

Do you notice how Jesus made a difference between an ordinary life and an abundant life? One of my favorite movies of all time is Braveheart. In that great movie, William Wallace, the hero says this great line, “Every man dies…but not every man lives.” I want to tell you something. You haven’t lived until you have met Jesus, surrendered to Jesus, trusted Jesus, loved Jesus, and made Jesus your very life.

I heard about a little boy whose dad had just gone off to war and he was concerned about his father’s safety and he wrote his dad a letter that said,

“Dear Daddy:

I love you and I hope you live all of your life.”

That is exactly what God wants for you. He gives you life so you will truly live your life. You were put here by God to live for God. There is no significance. There is no importance to life apart from Jesus Christ. It is only when you realize that you are here for Jesus, for His glory, for His honor, and to find His purpose for you life and to fulfill it and to find His will for you life and do it that you find a life of significance and importance.
