Pad Character
A Pad Character is a character that is used to fill empty space in a field or string in order to create a uniform length for the contents of a data set.
For example, if the field or string is ten characters in length, but only seven of the allotted “spaces” are used, then the remaining three “spaces” will be filled with Pad Characters.
