Wed Inspiration

Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt

Jesus said,

Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.” (Matthew 6:33)

You may not realize it, but what Jesus is doing here is tightening the screws. If you are not living out the righteousness of the kingdom you have no right to say that you are living with the Ruler of the kingdom or living under the rule of the kingdom. Research after research shows that particularly with the younger generation when it comes to the area of sexual immorality you can’t tell much difference between a professing believer and an unbeliever. In other words, there is a disconnect with what they say they believe and how they live.

There is a Bible word for this and it is called “hypocrisy.” You need to understand that kingdom citizens don’t live double lives. They don’t live one way on Sunday and another way on Monday. They live single lives. They live with the Ruler. They live under His rule and they live out His righteousness. You cannot call Jesus your king and then do whatever you want in any area of your life, because your sexual organs are His. Your money is His. Your computer is His. Your schedule is His. Your life is His. When His control is over you His character will come out of you. Do you know why all of this is so crucial and so important to the way we are going to live our lives? We are never going to make a difference in this world until the world sees a difference in us.

Do you understand how powerful this concept is? Do you understand what would happen if you were to make sure that everything you did was for God’s kingdom? Do you understand how living with Jesus and living under Jesus and living out Jesus would transform your work, your marriage, your relationships, and your very life?
