God With Us

“For no word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:37
At the time of Christ’s birth, there hadn’t been a king in Israel for 600 years. The Nation was under the domination of the most powerful empire in the world – the Roman Empire. And now the womb of a poor, peasant girl was going to become a palace that would give birth to the King of all kings and kingdoms.
From the time that He lit the sun in the sky and created the first man and woman, God had a plan. He had a plan to bring the Messiah, the Savior and Lord, and He would do it through a virgin teenager. It is only natural that Mary questioned the angel in Luke 1:34, “How will this be…since I am a virgin?” Physiologically, we don’t understand how this could happen. From a doctor’s point of view there is no explanation, but the angel’s answer was enough to satisfy Mary…and it should be enough to satisfy anyone. “For no word from God will ever fail,” the angel told her.
That one statement is what Christmas is all about. God can take nothing and create everything. He can take an old man and woman in their nineties – like Zechariah and Elizabeth – and give them a child. God can take a virgin like Mary and give her the Messiah that the world had been waiting for. God can even take on human flesh and come into the world as a man just like us. God can rise from the dead. God can forgive any sin, because nothing is impossible with God.
Christmas is Exhibit A that when you are waiting, not matter how long the wait has been, never give up. You keep waiting because God is always moving. You keep serving because God is listening. You keep watching because God is coming.
Father, Thank You for always keeping Your Word. Because of Christmas, I believe that nothing is impossible with You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
