How to Find Real Peace This Christmas (Part 3)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”(Matthew 11:28 NIV).
You’ve likely heard about the “peace that passes all understanding,” but you’ve probably never experienced it.
It’s attainable though. For the last couple of days, we’ve looked at three key steps to finding true and lasting peace in our lives this Christmas.
- First, we need to experience a moment of clarity.
- Second, we must express an attitude of humility.
Third, we need to expect Jesus to help us.
God does what we expect him to do in our lives. This is the faith factor.
Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He came to Earth to bring peace. He summarizes how he brings peace in a single sentence: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 NIV). If you truly get this sentence, your stress level will drop.
Jesus promises rest that’s beyond anything you’ve ever experienced. It’s much deeper than physical rest. It’s soul rest. Your problem isn’t overworked muscles. It’s an overworked mind and an overworked spirit. You need rest from anxiety, tension, guilt, and fear.
The way to that kind of peace isn’t to head to Tahiti. You’ll just take your troubles with you if you did that.
You find peace — rest for your weary soul — when you come to Jesus. It’s an act of faith that shows Jesus you expect his help.
It’s God’s way to the peace that won’t end.
