Did You Know?
Although often erroneously called “CliffNotes”, the ubiquitous yellow study guides that generations of students have consulted are actually called “CliffsNotes” (as in Cliff’s Notes), named after the man, Clifton Hillegass, who created the study guides back in the late 1950s.

Backronym
A Backronym (short for Backward Acronym) is a type of acronym that is created by choosing a “set” of letters, then a name/title (multi-word term) that fits the letters.
An example is NASA’s naming its ISS treadmill C.O.L.B.E.R.T. (Combined Operational Load-Bearing External Resistance Treadmill) after comedian Stephen Colbert.
