Spring into Good Health

Spotlight on Nutrition - Spring into Good Health

Spring is here! It’s a great time to take action on improving your overall health and wellness. Did you pack on the pounds this winter? Start shedding the weight now with lighter, fresher, healthier foods and increased physical activities.
During the spring time when everything around us begins to come alive and the warmer weather is on the horizon, people tend to venture outdoors to enjoy the freshness of spring. This is a great time to get active. Here are some great ways to get active and ensure that you meet your daily recommended goals for physical activities.
  • Take a brisk walk during lunch or after dinner. Walking is one of the simplest forms of exercise which can help to keep you physically fit. Try walking for at least 10-minutes a day to start then gradually increase your time, distance, and momentum for additional benefits.
  • Wash the car yourself. The warmer weather affords you the opportunity to skip the carwash and wash the car yourself. Washing the car on your own gives you the benefits of physical activity while saving you money too.
  • Clean up the yard and start a garden. Spring is a great time to plant fruits, vegetables, and herbs that you can use to create healthy meals. Cleaning the yard and gardening are also great ways to get some exercise.
  • Leave the car behind and bike it. Today’s society is more biker-friendly. There are established bike lanes and bike racks available in large cities to offer commuters options other than driving. Biking is a great way to get around while running errands or going to and from work or school. Biking also helps you to stay physically fit.
  • Engage the entire family in spring cleaning. Cleaning the house and garage can be a fun way for the entire family to engage in physical activity and spend quality time together.
