Police in a Toronto suburb are searching for two masked attackers who detonated an improvised bomb in a restaurant Thursday night.

Police say 15 were injured, three of them with critical blast injuries, after the men detonated the explosive device in Mississauga's Bombay Bhel restaurant, the BBC reports. The motive is still unclear. "We have no indication to call it a hate crime or any kind of terrorism act," says a police spokesman. He notes the attackers aren't believed to have said anything. "It appears they just went in, dropped off this device, and took off right away," he says.

A witness who was on the patio of a nearby restaurant tells the CBC that he rushed to help after hearing the blast. "Glass was broken in the street. There was a child's birthday party. Everything was destroyed. Lots of blood [on] the floor," he says. "Many people were screaming. They were trying to run out from the restaurant. There was a guy with glass inside his eyes. Many people were bleeding so much." Early Friday, police said that the three people rushed to the hospital with blast injuries were in stable condition. Another 12 people suffered less severe injuries.
