Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt
Isaiah said it about the only way someone can honestly say it when they've seen God's holiness and been sickened at their own sinfulness: "Here am I, Lord. Send me." (Isa. 6:8)
Notice also that he didn't say, "Here I am!" There's a big difference between the two. Had he simply said, "here I am," that would have simply indicated his location. But Isaiah's "here am I" revealed that he was seeking a vocation. He was saying, "I'm right here if you need me, God. If you're going to be in the area sometime, be sure to give me a call." Instead, he was saying "Here am I, Lord. You can move me anywhere you want to take me, or you can leave me right here where people already know me. But no matter where you place me, God, I want you to know that I'm all ears, I'll all yours and I'm ready. You say when and I'll be there."
That's the heart of a man who has seen a fresh vision of God. That's the heart of a woman who has contemplated the holiness of the King. That's the heart of a student, child or teenager who has confessed their sinfulness to the Lord.
That's a heart that will make a difference in this world.
