The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship Will Have a Two-deck Family Suite With Slides and Its Own Movie Theater

When the world’s biggest cruise ship debuts in April of 2018, families will have plenty to look forward to.

Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas, which will be the largest in the world at 230,000 gross registered tons, is offering the ultimate two-story suite for families, complete with slides that go from the bedrooms to the living room and an entire wall of LEGOs.

Hidden nooks line the suite for when it's time to relax, and you'll also find entertainment options like air hockey tables and a theater room with a popcorn machine, video game library, and game consoles.

The suite will feature a 212-square-foot wraparound balcony with a bumper pool table, a wall-climbing experience, and a whirlpool overlooking the ocean, while a Royal Genie (a personal butler) will be on hand to help guests make the most of their stay.

While Symphony of the Seas will have the familiar features found onboard the cruise line's other Oasis vessels — like rock climbing, ice rinks, surf simulators, and performances from the AquaTheater — it will also have an array of new additions coming into the mix.

These include food venues like Hooked Seafood, where you can grab fresh seafood selections from the raw bar and have oysters shucked to order, and the 10-story Ultimate Abyss, which will be the tallest slide at sea.

Guests will also be able to let loose on two different curving slides and a bowl-shaped whirlpool slide, and take part in activities like glow-in-the-dark laser tag.

The 16-deck ship, which will be able to carry 5,500 passengers, will also host the largest spa and casino on the seas, while a park area will have more than 12,000 tropical plants along a walkway leading through retail shops and restaurants.

There will be new technology on board, of course, allowing guests to easily check in through the company’s app and create an account before boarding for a speedy arrival to their staterooms. Meanwhile, robot bartenders will be serving drinks at the Bionic Bar, already a feature on the other Oasis-class ships.

Symphony of the Seas will debut in April of 2018, sailing through the Mediterranean in the summer before heading to Miami in November to set sail on voyages to the Caribbean.

The ship will replace the current largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, and will include 28 more rooms for guests.
