Did You Know?
There is an Academy Award for Best Original Musical, but because it rarely has enough nominees to make the actual award ceremony, it is seldom seen. The last time the Academy handed out the award was in 1984 for Prince’s Purple Rain (the award was called “Best Original Song Score” at that time).
