Best Small TVs

The Best Small TVs to Put In Your Kitchen

Between meal prep, snack time, and the way the kitchen functions as a hub in many homes, many of us spend a lot of time there. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a little television in there to keep you entertained while you cook and share funny videos with family members? We’ve picked some ideal TVs for the kitchen.

When it comes to looking for TVs for the kitchen, we have different criteria than we normally would. We don’t necessarily need a large TV with a crisp display and 4K resolution. Instead, we’re looking for displays that are small enough to fit underneath a cabinet–which typically offer around 15″-20″ of clearance–are inexpensive, and don’t need a ton of extra set up or accessories (like a Chromecast or streaming box) to watch what you want to watch.

Best Smart TV With Minimal Setup ($168)

You don’t have as much space on your kitchen counter to put together a whole entertainment system, so even though we don’t usually like smart TVs, they can be helpful here. This VIZIO 24″ TV comes with apps for services like Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube so you can watch online video without a separate device like a Chromecast or Roku. The remote even has dedicated buttons for Netflix and Amazon so you can launch them easily and get to watching while you work. At 15″ tall, this set can fit snugly under most cabinets.
Generally, you can’t expect to get a good picture out of a cheap, small TV. That doesn’t mean we can’t try, though. This Samsung 24″ TV (15.1″ tall) has a relatively crisp display with solid contrast and accurate color representation when properly calibrated. Obviously it’s not going to look as good as the set you put in your living room, but at a price comparable to other small sets in this price range, it’s an acceptable choice.
Your kitchen is a noisy place, so having a TV that can shout over your appliances can be handy. Without a sound system, you’re not going to be blowing anyone away or anything, but this 22″ LG TV (14.1″ tall) packs some decent 3W speakers so it can push out audio you can hear clearly over the bustle of your kitchen. You’re definitely not going to get a premium surround sound experience out of it, but it’s got plenty of power where it counts.
If you’re not going to spend a lot of time staring at your kitchen TV, why spend a ton of money on it? This Insignia 19″ TV (11.8″ tall) doesn’t offer a ton of features. At $70, though, it doesn’t really have to. You could buy a couple of these TVs for the same price as some of the others on our list. If you want to spend the absolute minimum possible to get a little TV in your kitchen, then it’s hard to go lower than this.
If you have a small kitchen, you may not have the counter space to spare on a standing TV. This device features a fold-away 10″ display that can be installed on the underside of a cabinet. You’ll still have all the space available underneath it to place things, and you can fold it away if you need more room. It also comes with its own DVD player and TV tuner. You probably won’t get the best picture with it—it’s got more in common with the little screens found in in-car entertainment systems than the big screens found in living rooms—but you’ll at least be able to watch without giving up ground to the ever-growing list of appliances and food on your counter.
