Morning Inspiration with Pastor Merritt

We are living in an age when knowledge is exploding. We have more knowledge at our fingertips than ever before in the history of mankind. Information has become so easily accessible through our internet systems and communication abilities that the increase in knowledge is possibly doubling or quadrupling at a higher rate than anyone could have imagined or thought possible.

No longer is it necessary to purchase books in printed form, for they are obtainable by a few clicks on a laptop, iPad or Kindle, etc. Medical advice is available to anyone who would venture to want their own diagnosis (not that this is advisable). The increase of knowledge could be well described as a tidal wave because of the enormity and volume of information accessible.

One thing this knowledge has taught; nobody can know everything. A census taker went to a home deep in the woods of West Virginia. An older gentleman came to the door and asked the census taker what he wanted.

The census taker answered, "The President has sent us across the country to find out exactly how many people live in the United States." The older man said, "Well, I'm sorry you came all the way out here to ask me because I ain't got the faintest idea."

There is much we cannot know, but there is one thing everyone should know, "Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners." This is a reliable statement. In 1 Timothy 1:15 Paul says "This is a faithful saying". Notice, it is not, "it was a faithful saying". It is authentic. It is up-to-date. It is always true. Today's scientific truth will be tomorrow's superstitious myth; however, God's Word is the true Word. Every statement from the lips of our God is always reliable.

Paul wants us to know this is not a figment of his imagination. It is not a fancy tale. Peter said, "For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His Majesty." This is a valuable statement, a worthy statement, a commendable statement and is worth our attention. It is worth our allegiance. This is a statement as worthy today as it was yesterday and will be as worthy tomorrow as it is today.

Not only is it a valuable, worthy and commendable statement, it is an acceptable statement. It is "worthy of all acceptance". It is a statement for everyone in every time at every place. The Bible is meant to convey this one truth, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners". This single, simple sentence is filled with meaning and bursting with truth.
