The wind industry is growing quickly around the world, especially in China and the U.S., where the total amount of electricity generated by wind turbines nearly doubled between 2011 and 2017.

All told, about 25 percent of global electricity now comes from renewable sources like hydropower, wind and solar energy.

“These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. They worship Me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.”
Matthew 15:8-9

A man and a woman had been married for fifty years, and the man was just not that talkative. His wife finally couldn’t hold it in any longer. She said, “Why don’t you ever tell me you love me? I have not heard those words since our wedding day.” He looked at her and said, “I told you I loved you fifty years ago and if I ever change my mind, I’ll let you know!”

Cell Phone Trying to Kill You

Is Your Cell Phone Trying to Kill You? New Study Says 'Maybe'

Study links blue-light emission with two kinds of cancer

By Janet Cromley,  Newser Staff

Researchers have found that exposure to high levels of outdoor blue light at night could hurt your health, but the jury is still out on blue light from cell phones and tablets.   (AP Photo/Julio Cortez)

Love that blue light? You might want to back away, according to a sobering new study. An international team of researchers led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health has found that exposure to blue light at night may increase your risk of developing breast or prostate cancer, reports Science Daily. The researchers analyzed medical and environmental data of more than 4,000 people in 11 Spanish regions.
They used questionnaires to assess exposure to indoor artificial light and images from the International Space Station to gauge exposure to outdoor artificial light in Barcelona and Madrid. They found that exposure to high levels of outdoor blue light at night could boost a woman's risk of breast cancer 1.5-fold and increase a man's risk of prostate cancer two-fold.

One notable finding: Men exposed to high levels of indoor artificial light caused by sleeping in highly illuminated bedrooms had a 2.8-fold higher risk of developing prostate cancer than men who slept in total darkness. Should you be worried about blue light from your smartphone and tablet? Not yet, a lead study author tells CNN. Alejandro Sánchez de Miguel says they only looked only at blue light emitted by outdoor sources, not smartphones or tablets. Nevertheless, he cautions, "The same mechanism may be affecting the phones or the bulbs at home, because the physiology is the same." He says this is the first study to specifically analyze cities' blue light, which is known to lower the amount of melatonin in the brain and affect the body's circadian rhythm.

We'll also show you how to do it on Amazon Prime Video.

JOHN PATRICK PULLEN / TIME.COM

This story originally appeared on Time.com.

You’re about to embark on an epic trip. You’ve got your suitcase packed, you remembered your toothbrush, and you have two too many pairs of shoes in your bag. Have you left anything behind? If you haven’t downloaded a few shows or movies from your favorite streaming video services, you certainly have.

Streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video let you download movies and television shows for offline viewing. It’s great when you’re traveling and you don’t have access to Wi-Fi, or you want to save your precious mobile data bandwidth. Not all subscription services allow it, but those that do may be the best traveling buddy you can find. Because while in-flight Wi-Fi is now a thing on most airlines, big bandwidth while airborne is still a far-away dream.

So add one thing to your pre-flight checklist: Download some streaming shows from one of these services to your smartphone or tablet. Here’s how to do it:

Netflix

Rivaling Amazon Prime in its streaming selection, Netflix recently gained the ability to download some shows and movies for offline viewing. Tapping on most of the videos that appear in Netflix’s will reveal a familiar “download” button — an arrow pointing downward towards a horizontal line. But some videos, like Netflix’s Marvel shows Luke Cage and Daredevil, aren’t available for download.

To find all of Netflix’s offline-viewable content, simply tap the hamburger button (it looks like three horizontal lines) in the app’s top-left corner, and then select “Available for Download.” This instantly reshuffles the app, eliminating the streaming-only content and showing only what you can take on the road. Offerings include Netflix’s excellent original content like Stranger Things and House of Cards along with older seasons of cable programming like AMC’s Mad Men and NBC’s Blacklist. Netflix also offers a good selection of movies, including classics like Pulp Fiction and newer critical darlings like Spotlight.

Later, to find your downloaded videos, simply tap on the menu button again, and select “My Downloads,” which will display all the items in your offline library.

Amazon Prime Video

Home to an impressive array of original content, like The Man in the High Castle and Transparent, as well as some great children’s programming, like Sesame Street and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Amazon Prime Video is a deep well full of entertainment options — all of which can be downloaded if you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber.

To download a video, simply tap on the item you’d like to watch, and rather than selecting the green “Watch Now” button, hit the gray “Download” option right below. Later, when you’re offline, you can find all the videos you downloaded by tapping on the “Downloads” menu option at the bottom of the app’s main screen. Amazon couldn’t make this any easier.

Comcast Xfinity

Subscribers to Comcast’s television service also have the ability to download the provider’s videos — well, some of them, at least. But first, you have to find them.

To sift the downloadable content from the streaming-only videos, tap on the hamburger menu button in the top-left corner of the app. Then select “On Demand” from the menu that emerges. The options that appear on-screen are everything you can stream — many of these will still not be downloadable. To find the offline-viewable options, tap on the “Filter” button that has now appeared below the menu button. Then select “Available For Download,” which will reveal the options.

Brace yourself for the results. From The A-Team to Sanford and Son, Xfinity’s downloadable shows were great in the ’80s, but barely compete with in-flight movies these days. (Note: In-flight movies are more-or-less non-existent, unless you want to rent the airlines’ video player to watch an edited version of the box office fare.) There are episodes of premium channels’ original content, like Showtime’s Homeland and The Affair, but they typically only offer the program’s pilot to get you hooked into ponying up for a subscription to the channel. Also, as far as we can tell, Xfinity’s app currently doesn’t allow movie downloads.

Sprint & T-Mobile Agree

Sprint and T-Mobile agree to combine in all-stock deal

photo(Photo by Justin Sullivan/Getty Images)

NEW YORK (AP) - T-Mobile and Sprint announced Sunday that they reached an agreement to combine into a new company that would reshape the U.S. wireless landscape by reducing it to three major cellphone providers.

The deal would help the companies slash costs and could make them a stronger competitor to the larger AT&T and Verizon. But consumers might see higher prices because the combined company would not have to offer as many promotions to lure customers.

The proposed all-stock deal values Sprint at about $59 billion and the combined company at $146 billion.

Sprint dropped its bid for T-Mobile more than three years ago after running into concerns about wireless competition in the Obama administration. The two were poised to combine in October, but that deal was called off, too.

Sprint and its owner, the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank, have long been looking for a deal as the company has struggled to compete on its own.

Sprint has a lot of debt and has posted a string of annual losses. The company has cut costs and made itself more attractive to customers, BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk says, but it hasn't invested enough in its network and doesn't have enough airwave rights for quality service in rural areas.

T-Mobile, meanwhile, has been on a yearslong streak of adding customers. After the government nixed AT&T's attempt to buy the company in 2011, T-Mobile led the way in many consumer-friendly changes, such as ditching two-year contracts and bringing back unlimited data plans. Consumers are paying less for cellphone service, thanks to T-Mobile's influence on the industry and the resultant price wars.

"T-Mobile does not need a merger with Sprint to succeed, but Sprint might need one to survive," Piecyk wrote in a research note.

But MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett said T-Mobile's momentum is slowing, which may explain why the company and its parent, Germany's Deutsche Telekom, "have warmed to the idea of a merger sooner rather than later."

The supersized company would have nearly as many wireless subscribers as Verizon and AT&T have now. T-Mobile and Sprint could save money by merging their networks and closing stores.

The Communications Workers of America, a union for telecommunication workers, says the merger will cost at least 20,000 U.S. jobs and reduce competition in wireless, bringing higher prices.

But the cost savings could help the combined company build infrastructure and buy rights to the airwaves needed for faster "5G" service that is expected to be up in running within the next few years.

Weekend Box Office Results

'Avengers: Infinity War' Opens with Record Shattering $250M Domestically & $630M Worldwide

by Brad Brevet

Audiences assembled worldwide as Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War broke both the domestic opening weekend box office record and worldwide opening record with a massive $250 million domestically and $630 million worldwide. In its wake, the majority of films on the weekend box office chart fell dramatically, though fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe release Black Panther improved its position from eighth place last weekend to a spot in this weekend's top five, truly making this a Marvel-ous weekend.

Infinity War's opening weekend bests the previous record of $247.9 million set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in December 2015 by just over $2 million, but it's also worth mentioning Disney under-estimated Black Panther's $202 million opening by nearly $10 million on Sunday. The studio also under-estimated The Avengers's performance by $7 million and under-estimated Avengers: Age of Ultron by $3.6 million. As such, don't be surprised to see Infinity War's debut blossom come actuals on Monday afternoon. At this moment, the film accounts for 84.4% of the domestic top twelve, second only to Ultron's 84.5% market share.

Internationally, Infinity War delivered a monstrous $380 million from approximately 72% of the international marketplace. The debut is the second largest to Fate of the Furious though its important to note that film had the benefit of China grosses over its opening weekend, which represented $185 million (41.7%) of its $443 million international debut. Altogether, Infinity War's global debut reached $630 million, shattering the previous record of $541.9 million set by Fate of the Furious and doing so without China, where the film will open on May 11.

Highlights from Infinity War's international debut include #1 openings in all territories led by the UK with $42.2m followed by South Korea ($39.2m*), Mexico ($25.1m*), Australia ($23.0m), Brazil ($18.8m*), India ($18.6m), France ($17.7m), Germany ($14.7m), Philippines ($12.5m*), Italy ($11.0m), Thailand ($10.0m*), Indonesia ($9.6m*), Taiwan ($9.5m), Japan ($9.0m), Malaysia ($8.4m*) and Spain ($8.3m). The film also delivered the #1 international IMAX debut ever, excluding China, with a total of $41 million globally from $22.5 million domestically and $18.5 internationally. Prior to the film's opening in China, Infinity War will open in Russia next weekend.

Looking ahead, Infinity War received an "A" CinemaScore from opening day audiences. Audiences were 58% male with 58% of the overall audience coming in over the age of 25. In terms of what to expect domestically, using multipliers from previous films in the MCU, a domestic performance over $600 million seems a given, but how much higher than that is unclear. A performance similar to Avengers: Age of Ultron would actually result in a domestic run right at $600 million, while comparisons to only Captain America: Civil War and Iron Man 3 would result in a domestic total below that mark.

All told, Infinity War's estimated $630 million worldwide opening means the 19 films so far released in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have now amassed nearly $15.5 billion combined.

Finishing in second is Paramount's A Quiet Place, serving as the only film on the weekend chart to top double digits in the face of Infinity War. The film brought in an estimated $10.65 million for a cume just a couple million shy of $150 million. Looking at the list of supernatural horror films, this makes A Quiet Place the fifth largest ever and it will soon top 2000's What Lies Beneath ($155.4m).

Internationally, A Quiet Place added an estimated $6.6 million this weekend from 57 markets, pushing the international cume to $87.2 million for a worldwide tally topping $235 million.

STX's I Feel Pretty landed in third, delivering an estimated $8.1 million for its sophomore session, a 49% drop compared to last weekend, resulting in a cume that currently sits just shy of $30 million.

In fourth is Warner Bros.'s and New Line's Rampage, which dropped a hefty 65% for an estimated $7.1 million weekend and a domestic cume that now stands at $77.9 million. Internationally, Rampage added an estimated $16.2 million this weekend, pushing its international total to $256.7 million for a global cume totaling $334.6 million. The film opens in France this coming Wednesday.

Rounding out the top five is Disney and Marvel's Black Panther, which enjoyed a nice bump thanks to its fellow MCU title, delivering an estimated $4.38 million, signaling just an 11% drop compared to last weekend as the film's cume is now at a massive $688 million domestically. This is also the first time since The Incredible Hulk debuted in 2008 that two films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe find themselves in the weekend top ten at the same time.

Just outside the top five, after a stellar debut, Super Troopers 2 dipped 76% in its second weekend with an estimated $3.6 million for a domestic cume just over $22 million, surpassing the original's $18.5 million after just ten days in release.

Bleecker Street's Disobedience topped the weekend's new limited releases, bringing in an estimated $241,276 from five theaters for a strong $48,255 per theater average. The film played in New York and LA this weekend and will be expanding to ten additional markets next weekend.

Additionally, IFC's Let the Sunshine In brought in an estimated $40,267 from two New York theaters ($20,133 PTA); The Orchard's Kings debuted with $173,113 from 214 theaters ($809 PTA); and Duck Butter, also from The Orchard, opened in two theaters with an estimated $3,360 ($1,680 PTA).

Next weekend will see a trio of films hitting a moderate number of theaters each including Jason Reitman's Tully reuniting the director with screenwriter Diablo Cody and star Charlize Theron. Lionsgate will release their Overboard remake starring Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris and Electric Entertainment is releasing the horror/thriller Bad Samaritan into ~1,800 locations, the widest new release of the weekend.

the Little Things

Being Faithful in the Little Things

Being Faithful in the Little Things
By Rick Warren
“Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones” (Luke 16:10 GNT).
God uses little things to test your integrity. We think it’s the big things in life that create a leader — but no. The big crises in life reveal leadership, but leadership is not built in the big things of life. It’s built in the small things. That’s where integrity shows up — in the stuff that nobody sees, in the stuff behind the scenes, and in the small, unseen, unspectacular choices of life where you do the right thing even though nobody’s ever going to see it.

Faithfulness requires integrity, and God tests your integrity in the little things.
In Luke 16:10 Jesus says, “Whoever is faithful in small matters will be faithful in large ones; whoever is dishonest in small matters will be dishonest in large ones” (GNT). He’s saying your public blessing is determined by your private integrity.
Every time a politician has a scandal, you can count on his defenders to come out and say this: “It really shouldn’t matter what a guy’s private life is like.” Have you ever heard that one? “His private life doesn’t have a thing to do with him as a leader.”
It has everything to do with him as a leader! Because if a man lies to his wife, he’ll lie to his constituents. Believe me! If he’ll lie to the person he told, “Till death do us part,” he will cheat on you, voter! Count on it!
My public blessing as a leader comes because of private integrity that nobody ever sees. Your public blessing as a person comes from your private integrity that nobody will ever see. God uses little things to test our integrity.

Gigabit Ethernet vs. Fast Ethernet

Gigabit Ethernet vs. Fast Ethernet: What’s the Difference?

Not all Ethernet is created equal. These days there are two available standards, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit, which are completely distinct speed interfaces. It’s important to understand the difference between them and which one you should choose.
So there I was shopping for a new Ethernet switch, assuming that all of them were using the latest and greatest technology. Boy was I wrong—I ended up with a “Fast Ethernet” switch when what I really needed was a “Gigabit Ethernet” switch. Turns out, there’s a huge difference.

A Quick Ethernet History Lesson

Ethernet was first introduced to the public in 1980, and it had a max throughput of 10 megabits per second. 15 years later in 1995, an updated version of Ethernet was released. It was called “Fast Ethernet”—sometimes referred to as “10/100”—and it had a throughput of 100 megabits per second.
However, just three years after that, an even newer version was introduced. It was named “Gigabit Ethernet”—or “10/100/1000”— and it is currently the latest standard. Gigabit Ethernet has a maximum throughput of 1,000 megabits (or 1 gigabit) per second, hence the name.
Faster interfaces do exist. A 10 gigabits per second is currently in use, but it has yet to reach widespread use in consumer products. There’s even a 1,000 gigabits per second (Terabit Ethernet) interface currently in development.

Fast Ethernet? More Like “Fast” Ethernet

Most modems and routers these days come with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. So right off the bat, your home network is already equipped with the latest and greatest that networking speeds have to offer. The moment you throw a Fast Ethernet device into the mix, your maximum network speed instantly drops by 90%. A previous article of ours sums it up well:
“In order to take full advantage of the maximum speeds, all the devices in the transfer chain need to be at or above the speed rating you want. For example, let’s say you have a media server in your basement with a Gigabit Ethernet card installed and a media console in your living room with a Gigabit Ethernet card but you are connecting the two together with a 10/100 switch. Both devices will be limited by the 100 Mbit/s ceiling on the switch. In this situation, upgrading the switch would boost your network performance considerably.”
I got myself into this exact situation when shopping around for Ethernet switches. I went onto Amazon, searched for “ethernet switch,” and picked one near the top that had good reviews and was pretty cheap. Simply assuming it was what I wanted, I hit the purchase button. But what I really bought was a slower Fast Ethernet switch instead of the Gigabit Ethernet switch I really needed.

Fast Ethernet Is Still Alive and Well for Some Reason

When you perform a search for “ethernet switch” on Amazon, the top result (at least for me) is a Fast Ethernet switch (this one, to be exact). About half of all the results on the first page were for Fast Ethernet devices that only support the measly 10/100 protocol.
I have no idea why this is the case, other than giving consumers a cheaper option if cost is more important than speed, but even then we’re only talking about a few dollars difference.
What’s more important is that if you don’t know exactly what to look for in an Ethernet device, it can be really easy to accidentally select Fast Ethernet when what you really want is Gigabit Ethernet.
This is especially true if the 10/100 or 10/100/1000 protocols aren’t mentioned in the listing titles—someone might just see the words “Fast Ethernet” and assume it’s the latest and greatest without knowing what that term truly means.

How Does It Affect My Internet Connection?

So what if you do end up with a Fast Ethernet device rather than a Gigabit Ethernet device? Will your connection suffer because of it? Well, it depends.
Unless you’ve switched over to fiber, your internet connection is very likely less than 100 megabits per second. Since a Fast Ethernet device is capable of 100 megabits per second, it’s going to handle more than your internet connection can provide.
It’s a bigger problem on your local network, though. If you’ve got a mix of Gigabit and Fast Ethernet devices on your network, you’re going to be limited to that Fast Ethernet speed (100 megabits) when your network is capable of much more (10 times that at 1000 megabits). If you use your network for transferring large files, backing up, and other bandwidth-intensive activities, you will notice a difference at the lower speeds.

In short, our advice is this. Buy Gigabit Ethernet devices instead of Fast Ethernet devices, even if they cost a little bit more. And make sure your Ethernet cables are at least Cat 5e or Cat 6, so they work with higher speeds, too. Your local network will run faster, and if you end up with better internet speed in the future, your network will be ready to handle it.

Samsung Health

What Can You Do with Samsung Health?

Samsung offers a lot of tools, many of which you probably just ignore. Health is one of the tools you should probably take a closer look at, however, because it’s actually really useful.

What is Samsung Health?

Samsung Health is the company’s take on fitness tracking. Health is absolutely loaded with features, many of which will prove useful to most people, and others to only the most dedicated. And the best part: it’s not just available for Samsung phones. You can install Health from the Play Store on most Android phones.
Samsung Health is more than just a glorified step or calorie tracker. It can track your weight, calorie intake/burn, steps, runs, heart rate, stress levels, caffeine intake, blood pressure, sleep, blood glucose, bike rides, hikes, and a lot more.
And that’s just on the first page.
Before we get too far down this rabbit hole, it’s worth nothing that not all features are available on all smartphones. So, while you can install it on a wide range of Android phones, not every phone can take advantage of things like hear rate monitoring, which is enabled by the hardware on the Samsung Galaxy lineup.
With that, let’s talk about everything it can do.

The Samsung Health Main Page: “Me”

Health’s main page is where you’ll start with the app, as well as where you’ll likely spend most of your time. It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you’ll get used to it quickly.
I’ve already spent some time customizing my Health app, so yours may look a little bit different. But the general gist is something like this:
Weight management and the built-in step counter are front and center here, because those features are likely going to be why most people use the app. But down below you’ll find all sorts of other useful stuff, as well as a way to customize the layout and what items are tracked.
The bottom parts of the main screen show all the extra stuff—tapping the “Manage Items” button brings up everything you can add. Pick and choose what works for you, and that info will show up on the main screen.
It’s worth noting that some of the things here don’t use the phone to get their data—like blood pressure or glucose, for example. This feature assumes you have a third party monitor to track this particular data, and then you input it to your Health app manually. It’s also likely that you can find apps that work with external devices (like blood pressure monitors) and also sync with the Health app so you can track things more automatically.

The Other Stuff: Together, Experts, and Discovery

While you’ll spend most of your time fiddling with things on the “Me” page, there are other useful features tucked into the other pages. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect with each.

The Together Page

If the main page—the Me page—is all about tracking your individual stats, the Together page is all about comparing your steps and whatnot to literally everyone else.
If you like the idea of making a game of your steps, then you’ll like this page. It’s really just harmless fun—a way to motivate you to take more steps. You can opt into global challenges and the like to push yourself a little bit more.
Or, like me, you can just ignore this page altogether.

The Experts Page

This tab is the most interesting feature in the Health app—and it’s also one that’s exclusive to Galaxy S9 and Note 8 users.
The options on this page connect you with doctors for urgent care, therapy/psychiatry, and even specialty care visits—all from your phone. It’s wild.
You sign up for this feature with all the same info you’d use at a brick and mortar doctor’s office: name, phone number, health insurance information, pharmacy, medical history, current medications, and all the other pertinent information that a medical provider may need to treat you.
I ran through as much of the process as I could before having to actually see a provider, and it was relatively simple. The app didn’t have my health insurance provider listed, so I’m not sure if that means they don’t participate of if I’d have to add them some other way. It also listed the cost at $59 “before insurance” for a visit.

The Discover Page

Finally, there’s the Discover tab, which is basically just a collection of health-related articles if you’re into that sort of thing. There isn’t really anything more to say about that.

Everything Else: Programs, Partner Apps, and More

Then there’s all the other stuff. Tucked into the menu, you’ll find access to so much more, including fitness programs, partner apps, compatible access, and promotions. Here’s a closer look.

Programs

This is where you’ll find fitness programs to help along your fitness journey. I honestly wish this was more of a front-and-center feature instead of one tucked behind another menu button, because it’s really pretty awesome.
You can find new workout routines, weight loss tips, training exercises, and other related information. You can also set your fitness interests and goals so the app can better curate these programs to your specific goals and needs. It’s cool.

Partner Apps

If you’re already into fitness, you probably have an app (or collection of apps) that you use to keep up with your goals. Good news: many of these are compatible with Samsung Health and can be connected to the Health app for automatic importing of workouts, steps, calorie info, and more.
For example, if you use MyFitnessPal to track your calories, you can connect it to Health. Or if you’re an Endomondo user, connect it to automatically import your workouts. There are an absolute slew of compatible apps, so the odds are if you use, it’s there. The main app I couldn’t find was Strava, which is a truly odd omission given its popularity in the cycling and running community.
But everything else I looked for was there.

Accessories

If you’re in the market for a new wearable, sensor, blood pressure monitor, glucose meter, heart rate sensor, or scale and want to make sure it’s compatible with Health, this is the menu for you.
This takes all the accessories that are compatible with Samsung Health and breaks them down into categories, making it easy for you find exactly what you’re looking for. It’s definitely not necessary that you run out and get new accessories just because you start using the Health app, but if you need a particular kind of monitor or device anyway, why not get a compatible one?

Promotions

Finally, there’s the Promotions page. This is where you can learn about new products and apps that are compatible with Samsung Health, as well as find deals on other services.

Contrary to popular belief, traveling doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. In fact, there’s more you can do to save yourself money other than waiting around for an airfare or hotel deal to come around.

Travelers make several mistakes when booking flights, according to airfare forecasting service Hopper, but there are easy ways to avoid them.

The biggest mistake? Booking too late. And, alternatively, booking too early.

When Exactly to Buy Your Next International Flight, According to a Study of 350 Million Fares
When it comes to airfare, it's all about the timing.

“Don't expect to catch deals more than 150 days prior to takeoff,” writes Hopper’s Chief Data Scientist Patrick Surry. That said, it's even worse to wait too late. On average, booking too late can cost a consumer $139 on domestic trips and $529 on international trips, according to Hopper.

So how do you know when to book? Your best bet is using the best tools available to you. That includes Hopper (which has a 4.8 user rating in the App Store and a 4.4 user rating in Google Play), which offers push alerts when an airfare you're interested in drops in price.

And there are many other services that offer fare tracking, like Google Flights and KAYAK, so there's no excuse not to set an alert right now for the next trip — or trips — you plan to (or just dream about) taking in the next year.

Other mistakes Hopper highlights include not considering alternative airports or destinations, not being flexible on your dates, and being an impulse buyer. Hopper also suggests booking your hotel before your flight.

“Hotels tend to have very different revenue management strategies and systems, and this assumes that all hotels aren't great at managing their inventory, which isn't the case,” Surry wrote. “We found that on average, the best rates can be found 2-3 months in advance of your trip.

Alexa Memory

Alexa will soon have a memory

Amazon's AI can also answer follow-up questions without hearing its name.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that Amazon's Alexa was an amnesiac: it can't remember important long-term info, or even that you started talking to it a few moments ago. Soon, though, it'll be considerably less forgetful. Amazon's Ruhi Sarikaya has detailed a string of upgrades to Alexa that promise more natural conversations, particularly about familiar subjects. Most notably, Alexa devices in the US will soon have a memory: you can tell the voice assistant to remember an important fact (say, a friend's birthday) and bring that up later.

You also won't have to use Alexa's hotword every time you ask a follow-up question, much like Google Assistant. In the US, UK and Germany, the helper will soon answer secondary questions more naturally: if you ask "how's the weather," you can ask "how about this weekend" afterward. Amazon is also using its deep learning know-how to allow follow-ups that span across categories. If you ask "how's the weather in New York City," for instance, you can ask "how long does it take to get there" -- Amazon will know you're still talking about NYC even though you've switched from weather to traffic.

Amazon is also addressing one of the common gripes for voice assistants: that need to mention a third-party skill by name to use it. In the next few weeks, Alexa will use machine learning to find the relevant skill on its own. If you ask how to remove an oil stain from your shirt, Alexa will call up the Procter & Gamble skill to walk you through removing that unsightly mark. It's going to be limited at first, and could be annoying if it points you to the wrong skill, but it beats having to discover a skill in order to try it.

Sarikaya readily admitted that there are plenty of challenges left, not the least of which is helping Alexa choose from "tens of thousands" of Alexa skills. Remember how researchers recently created a skill that could listen in to conversations? And we'd add that voice assistants are still a long, long way from their sci-fi counterparts -- they may deliver the right answers, but they don't truly understand you. Still, this could go a long way toward eliminating the awkward, robotic conversations you frequently experience today.

Wet mangroves line the rivers that meet the ocean along Colombia’s Pacific coast. The dense tropical canopy beneath them makes for stifling heat—and the perfect cover from prying U.S. satellites. For the past 25 years, drug smugglers have hidden entire manufacturing operations beneath these trees. Not drug-manufacturing operations—they’re making submarines. In the middle of the jungle. And, for the first time ever, they’ve gone electric. Last summer, the Colombian military captured a drug sub powered by smaller, quieter electric engines and more than 100 batteries.

Astronomers have found plenty of exoplanets—planets orbiting other stars—over the last few years, and usually they can measure some of the properties of these planets. At the very least, astronomers can generally measure the size of the planet and how fast it orbits, and often they can figure out a planet's mass as well.

The app is testing out updates that would restore celebrity stories to their place alongside users' friends on a single page. As Variety points out, however, this announcement accompanied a nosedive in the app's stock on Wednesday, declining by 7.5 percent to a price of $14.46 per share.

However, as the new customer satisfaction rating shows there are still a few airlines making travelers happy.

"Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation."
